Aravind Pochiraju, Founder and CEO

Aravind is highly experienced in educational technology. Before starting Lrnr he ran the Digital Innovation Group at Pearson and built a publisher first eReader for iOS, as well as several other blockbuster apps. He helped put Pearson ahead of competition in the Mobile domain.

He led the development and successful implementation of Pearson’s first highly scalable K-12 LMS in 2001 which is still in use today with millions of student users under the name Pearson SuccessNet.

In his free time, you can get him excited for long hikes on a mountain, rowing and kayaking, biking, scuba diving and sci-fi movies.

Lisa March, co-founder of Noblestream, is a highly regarded leader, speaker, and advocate in the education services industry. As a top performing sales team leader for Pearson, Oxford University Press, and John Wiley & Sons during a time of great change in the education sector, Lisa experienced first-hand the profound shift in strategy required to market, sell, and successfully deploy digital content and educational platforms. She owes her success to being solutions-oriented, and has built her own companies around a customer-first core philosophy.

Rafael Mayer is Managing Partner and Co-Founder of Khronos LLC, an SEC Registered Investment Advisor in New York City. Prior to his founding Khronos, Rafael was Director of Software Development at Franklin Electronic Publishers in Mt. Holly, New Jersey. Rafael led a software development team specializing in reference software for hand-held electronic platforms. Rafael graduated Cum Laude from the University of Pennsylvania, receiving a B.Sc. in Economics from the Wharton School. Rafael serves as Board Chair for the KIPP NYC charter schools.

Former faculty member of St. Joseph’s College with over 3 decades of teaching experience in Biology. Dr. Girija has been a big promoter of personalized learning methodologies using technology to help learning needs of students. Dr. Rao has been instrumental in the development of Lrnr’s turnkey solutions in STEM. She manages the content editorial process and collaborates with authors and content engineers to develop new homework solutions.

Brad Beatty has worked in the field of education technology for the past several years, primarily with course materials management platforms. These types of platforms work closely with higher education institutions to help them develop and implement innovative course materials strategies. Brad is ready to address any challenge in the EdTech space, and is excited to be a top advisor for Lrnr.

Brad enjoys spending time with his two young daughters, which has enabled him to add a couple skills to his resume such as master tea party organizer and dress up extraordinaire.

Peter O’Reilly has spent the last couple years navigating the landscape of higher education with Lisa March and Howard Weiner. Tasked with driving interest in a variety of ed-tech products, Peter has developed a keen interest in the overarching educational solution market while constantly calculating how to drive innovation at our partner institutions.

Besides his intense focus on local beer, Peter spends the rest of his time with books he rarely finishes and movies that aren’t trash.

Alex is a sales adviser and marketing communications specialist at Noblestream. Throughout his life, Alex has worked on a wide range of media communications, including copywriting, novel writing, video & animation, newsletters, and various graphic design projects. After graduating from Oberlin she served abroad for three years; continuing her Ph.D. studies, she led seminars on cross-cultural communication, conflict transformation as well as de-escalation interventions with violent youth. She has diverse work experience, e.g. as a professor, consultant, city government administrator, mom, and has published 5 editions of her popular handbook on communication and conflict along with other research. She advocates for OER, social entrepreneurship, and innovative technology for global sustainability.

Carrie Hughes is a graduate of the University of Houston Clear Lake with a BA in Biology and a MS in Biological Science. She taught 10th grade Biology for ten years then made the move to higher education. She has currently been teaching Majors Biology, Anatomy & Physiology, and Microbiology at San Jacinto College – Central Campus for the last fifteen years and would rather be nowhere else. In her free time she enjoys traveling with her husband and two daughters. She enjoys exploring National Parks on long road trips enjoying hiking, river rafting, horseback riding, and zip-lining along the way. Visiting all fifty states is on her “Bucket List.” She only has eleven more states to go!”

Cynthia E. Morgan Ph.D. is a graduate from the University of Texas, El Paso, with a Doctoral degree in Pathobiology.  Concentrations were in ecology, evolution and myrmecology. She has taught at several institutions of higher education to include University of Texas, El Paso, Austin Peay State University and Lord Fairfax Community College. She raised four children while finishing her doctorate. Now she lives with her loving husband, two cats and a dog.

Dr. Welday has a Ph.D. in Neuroscience from University of California, Los Angeles. His prior research focused on unraveling how regions of the brain involved in spatial navigation and learning and memory encode and decode information from their environment. Firmly believing in the power of education in transforming people lives and the society they live in, Dr. Welday has chosen to teach in community colleges as a way to contribute to providing educational opportunities to as many as possible.

In his hypothetical spare time, he likes to cook, camp and frolic along the California coast.

Melissa Ha earned a B.S. in Biological Sciences from California State University, Chico and an M.S. in Organismic and Evolutionary Biology from University of Massachusetts Amherst. Her graduate research examined how season, evolutionary relatedness, and floral similarity affect the outcome of pollinator-mediated interactions in different plant species. She currently teaches introductory biology, microbiology, and anatomy and physiology at Mohave Community College in Kingman, AZ. She enjoys sewing, painting, reading, hiking, and spending time with her husband and pets.

Most recently David was the president of WebAssign, the largest independent online homework provider. At OpenStax College David hopes to contribute to the teams effort of improving access to high quality materials by working with authors, developers, and partners to substantially lower costs for students.

Nicholas Smith has spent more than 25 years in education and technology. Most recently, he was President of Macmillan Labs for Higher Ed, an R&D group dedicated to building innovative technology products that solve problems for students and teachers in elegant ways.

Prior to joining Macmillan, Nicholas spent nine years at Aplia, a leading provider of online homework for higher education, where he helped to grow the company from start-up to profitability and finally to successful acquisition by Cengage Learning in 2007. Nicholas remained with Cengage Learning as VP of Software Products until 2009. His experience also includes work at SRI Consulting, Pensare, and Agile Mind, as well as a decade teaching middle school students.

Among his many accomplishments at Wiley, Howard is noted for founding the Wiley Faculty Network (WFN) a peer-to-peer network of faculty advocates missioned with sharing best practices around implementing new technologies.
